Evangelists,supported by Hedmark Misjonsenter

Hedmark Misjonsenter is nowadays supporting 30 workers in Darjeeling District; in West Bengal, India. Here you can read about some of the evangelists.

Dk and Ormila Tapa got

married on the Norwegian national day ; the seventeenth of May, 2004. In January 2006 they got their first child, so no they rejoice in being a family.

Dk had already worked as an evangelist some time, when they got married, and after the marriage Ormila also is helping him on the field.

DK was born in a Christian family, but he can tell that many temptations came in his way, when he grew up. But step by step Jesus helped him, and in 1990 he accepted Jesus as his Saviour and lord! From that time, he prayed to become His servant and his desires started to come through. Now he is very thankful to God that he has got the opportunity to work as an evangelist in the Siloam network.

Ormila started to get known to Jesus, when she came to Latpanchor in 2001. She came to work as an assistant at Glory School and was at that time unknown about Jesus, because she came from a Hindu family. She received the gospel through some new friends in Latpanchor, and then one of the families in Sundersun church in Latpanchor (elder MK's family), took care of her and showed her how to live a Christian life.

Because Ormila received Jesus and married to a Christian man, her parents got very angry, and they still not accept them. But they are praying for her parents. Anyway, she now wants to serve the lord, together with her husband.

First full time evangelist in Sundersun- church in Latpanchor was John Lama. He is doing the work together with his wife; Madonna and even their children Hannah and Jubal.

After having worked as an evangelist in Gospel of Asia, he started to work for this church in 2002.His desire was to work in stability and not only be moved around not knowing when and where to go next time. Therefore he is now happy to work strategic in the villages around Latpanchor, which is the place where Sundersun is established.

To work as an evangelist in Sundersun also means to work in Siloam Network, so for John it means also to cooperate with senior pastor Vongmo.

John early started to get interested about religion. His father actually was a Buddhist priest.

When john was 10 his mother married second time and after that John use to stand by his real fathers place. But he died two years later, and then John as a twelve year old boy had to be alone. Other people started to come to his house and beat him and dominate him, and they stole things from him. Then he got very angry and wanted to take revenge. He left school but fortunately a relative was able to encourage him to go back.

Anyway he started to drink alcohol and smoke grass. This made him even more hateful and aggressive. Some Christians in the school tried to witness for him, but he was only getting angry at them; he got so angry that he even wanted to kill them..

As he was growing physically his hate also was growing. One night in 1988 he planned to kill a pastor. But at that very night, luckily for the pastor, he slept over in an other house where he was serving in house fellowship. God saved that pastor!

John also started to chase the Christians and tried to make them not to join Christian fellowship.

But in 1989 John had a frightened dream. He saw a beautiful bird and wanted to catch it. But then the bird changed and became a terrible monster. After that day Jesus Christ was calling for John. He soon joined a house fellowship and became a Christian.

A special word from the bible that comforted John a lot after being a Christian was Isaiah 49.15-16.

This year 05/06 he and his wife has joined a bible school in south of India, so now they are even better trained for the future!

After second year bible-school in 2003, HMs started to support two more evangelists. First of them was Suren Rai who is a worship leader in Sundersun –church in Latpanchor.

He was born in 1972 as the third son in a Hindu- family. When he was in class 6, in 1986 two great tragedies happened in his family: his mother died and his father was getting paralyzed. Then a lot of grief came into his life and he started to drink and smoke grass. –Therefore he came into bad company and steeling became a natural part of daily life.

He got bad conscience and was much worried because of that. Then he started to seek God and started to worship idols, but got no piece.

But in 1992 he got an opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ and then he received Him as lord and saviour. Then he was baptized 28. October 1992. Now he has decided that he want to serve Jesus the rest of his life.

Suren Rai has a special gift in helping the church into worshipping. He leads in different kinds of worshipping and like to be in the front also in dancing for the Lord. On the picture you can see Suren, his wife Rotna and their to daughters; Neries and Kripa!

Benish Lepcha was born 27.Mai 1980 at Jholly Busty in Latpanchor, which is a part of Kursoeng - subdivision under Darjeeling district in West Bengal. He was a son of an idol worshipping Hindu priest. His fathers name is Nim Tsiring Lepcha and his mothers name is Marynut Lepcha.

In his family there were many troubles and sufferings before they met Jesus. They understood that they needed peace in their life and began to search for truth. In this period of their life they heard the Gospel and started to believe in Christ. Finally they received Jesus as their saviour and Lord!

During 1997 Benish and his family were baptized together and today he is very happy to be a servant of the Lord.

Benish Lepcha is the third evangelist we started to support for the Sundersun church. He is going out from his home at Jholly Bosty to the mountain villages around. Two boys from Baggora was saved in the Bible school January 2004 and is directly some of the fruit which has come out of his work at Baggora. He and two of his sisters has been through the two weeks bible school which is being run by Sundersun church and the Siloam network in cooperation with Hedmark Misjonsenter, Norway. Some times he gets help from his own sisters in preaching.

Autumn 2005 Benish also married a girl from one of the areas where he has been preaching! Her name is Srijana and has also been through the two weeks Bible training.-On the picture you can see Benish, his mother and his sisters.
